The Korean Traditional Music and Dance Institute of New York is one of the most renowned Asian performance groups in the world. Their outpouring of musical and dance heritage is nothing short of mesmerizing. Energetic drumming is met with equally powerful traditional choreography. Bright hand fans, shiny dresses, and elaborate hair accessories saturate the stage. The Institute's founder, Yoon Sook Park, established the group in 1987 as a personal response to what she felt was a waning appreciation of Korean culture by her fellow Koreans. Her devotion to Korean art has nourished those roots and broadened them, too. The group practices in the heart of Queens but performs throughout the city and around the world.
