Chinatown's stores serve the needs of its diverse communities. Numerous wedding palaces thrive in Chinatown. Many shops, like this one, offer both traditional Chinese and Western wedding attire. Her husband called his stepfather, who was not Chinese, to let him know in advance the bride would be wearing red. "I can understand not wearing white," he said, "but why red?"
